COVID-19 Vaccination During Pregnancy in Ontario
Report #1: December 14, 2020 to May 31, 2021 by BORN Ontario (Better outcomes registry and network)
– 30,892 received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy
– 25,990 (84.1%) of vaccinated individuals were still currently pregnant as of the end of the reporting interval (May 31, 2021)
– Almost all who had already given birth received their first vaccination in the third trimester of pregnancy
– Among those who had not yet given birth: 12.6% received first dose in the first trimester, 56.2% in the second trimester, and 31.2% in the third trimester
– Of the 30,892 pregnant individuals who received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy: 25,012 (81.0%) received Pfizer 5,661 (18.3%) received Moderna 103 (0.3%) received a viral-vector vaccine (i.e., AstraZeneca or COVISHIELD)116 (0.4%) had missing information on type of vaccine received
– Thus far, there was NO increased risk for any birth outcomes among vaccinated pregnant individuals
– No difference in post-partum hemorrhage. stillbirth, preterm births, small for gestational age babies
